Apply to co-host the Cities Forum 2023 edition!

The CITIES FORUM is a biennial major event of the European Commission that brings together key urban stakeholders from European, national, regional and local levels. It is the place and the moment to discuss the urban dimension of Cohesion Policy, the Urban Agenda for the EU, the role of cities in implementing the European Green Deal, the EU response to the urban dimension of the 2030 Agenda, the New Urban Agenda, the New Leipzig Charter, as well as on EU level initiatives developed in order to support cities. After a period of unprecedented challenges brought up by the pandemic, we are happy to announce that the CITIES FORUM will be organised in a physical and hybrid format in 2023.

DG REGIO is currently looking for an enthusiastic city to host and co-organise this FORUM. The call for cities, which will be open until 31 January 2022, has been published via Info Regio and is available here. The city should partly contribute by providing a venue, helping with communication activities and ensuring political participation from within the country, whilst respecting safety measures.

This 5th edition will take place in the first quarter of 2023 and will welcome around 700 participants for 2 days. In 2020, the CITIES FORUM brought together more than 650 urban stakeholders in the city of Porto. As a great number of cities competed then to host the FORUM, the Commission decided to continue organising an open call for interested cities in Europe.
